The University of Alabama Men’s Rowing Team is looking for highly dedicated student-athletes to become a part of one of the University’s most unique and fulfilling organizations in the form of Rowers and Coxswains. We recruit high school rowers and coxswains, along with walk-ons with no prior experience.

ROWERS

Rowers are lean, aerobically fit, and powerful athletes who propel the boat through a race as fast as possible using oars.

Athleticism and potential are two of the biggest factors of success in the sport. Many of our athletes were high-performers in swimming, track and field, baseball, football, and basketball.

COXSWAINS

Coxswains are the leaders and strategists of a boat. Their responsibility is to motivate the rowers, implement the planned race strategy, and navigate courses efficiently by steering the boat.

Coxswains are excellent communicators, have great spacial awareness, and are naturally confident. They typically are smaller in stature to minimize added weight in a boat.
